Dinner in Luchon

I'm sitting waiting for dinner now outside a restaurant in Luchon
I've had a beer and decided to just have a glass ( as opposed to a bottle ) of wine tonight, though I may have 2 as it's quite palatable ( minervois )
I'm having 'Italian salad' to start and their version of fish and chips , we will have to see how it turns out.
The wine is warm , about 25 degrees I think compared to last nights wine that was clearly kept away from the heat of the day.
Service is slow hence the lengthy blog!
I'm sat on a table on my own but adjacent to a French couple , I think they are feeling their space is invaded, in comparison to the average Spaniard who would regard 2 feet as a reasonable space of privacy ( strange that I'm only 20 miles from Spain but the cultures are clearly different). I tend to prefer the French reserved attitude but not their prices.
I've had my chicken Caesar salad to start and it was okay, I didn't photograph it because I was hungry.
This is the 'Fish and chips'

I do have a significant Yorkshire history of this dish and I think it should have a Yorkshire protected description like champagne or Wensleydale as the term is open to significant abuse.
The food was palatable but not something to recommend!
There's a lovely breeze coming down the avenue now, it's warm but cooler than the radiant heat from the ground and surrounding buildings.
The afore mentioned French couple have loosened up having had a few glasses of wine and I am now invisible to their marital difficulties !
I'm finishing my second glass of wine and I'm going to have a cheeky dessert beer ( they are so underestimated ) Grimberbergen Ambree- just a small one
Never had this before seems like a Belgian style beer quite heavy malt, caramel and dark fruits. You wouldn't want to have more than a half of this unless forced. Nice as a finish instead of dessert though.
